The Restoration Of Marriage & Right Relationships Pt. 2 ~ Building The Family

2: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A HOBBY, FIND ONE. A PERSONAL INTEREST, OR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH, CHURCH ACTIVITY, 
OR 4 WALL VISION.

In his book, "What I know For Sure, My story of growing up in America" author Tavis Smiley described scenarios that are all too familiar to many Black families, especially individuals in the early days of the Black church in America. He described a time when there was a church service and or a church function nearly every day of the week. He described at time when life in the Black community, was synonymous with church. There were only 2 conditions and possibly three of the average Black family and individual; going to church, coming home from church or going or coming home from work, getting ready to go to church.
In those days there was a different study, rehearsal, preparation or practice for something all the time and every day. If one wasn't in a study, then one was in prayer. You mother, father and the whole family was engaged in something. Church was certainly a lively place, and a place full of activity, but it was also one that made a generation of folk commit to themselves, that once they were free from being required to attend church, that they weren't looking back. Some of them grew, left home, left the church and made true on their promises. Some never came back, although many of them continue to send their children to church even if they stay home.

A Little Different, But A Little The Same

Although the church has changed in its core makeup and type of activities that it offers, many of its practices have not changed at all. One could spend weeks if not months simply traveling back and forth to church everyday, somewhere, someplace if one followed all of the outlined and regimented services that they are "required" to attend. As a District Supt, within the organization that I am a part of, if I were to attend all of the services asked of me, and give all the offering that I am asked to give ever year, not only would I be physically worn out, but I would have no time to pastor a church, yet alone be a husband to my wife or a father to my children, and on top of that I would be broke nearly all year round.

Speaking To Dr. Earl Carter

Isaiah 33:15-16 ~15-He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; 16-He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure

Reluctantly, I have had to interject into what appears to be a "spin war" of Dr. Earl Carter against COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake. The reason that I must speak is because in one of Dr. Carter's latest videos, he invokes my name at about the 14:40 mark (unless he edits the video as he has done and continues to do in some cases after release). One can hear him issue some statements referencing my name. 


Plainly, some of his statements regarding what I have said are misstatements. Some are mis-attributions of statements that I have allegedly made regarding both homosexuality and sexual abuse in COGIC. Some of Carter's statements in that video, attributed to me, were patently false attributions. This means, that I DID NOT say what Carter leads one to believe that I said regarding COGIC or our current condition. 

For this cause, I have taken the time to point out those misstatements in the comments section of his youtube video. I will recapture the statement in full here just in case my commentary gets deleted. 

I spoke as follows:
This is Pastor Burnett 
About 14:40 in this video carter mentions my name and attributes something to me that I wrote in PART. He then adds on a whole bunch of stuff that I didn't say such as my "confirming" that I said that homosexuality and child molestation is in COGIC and that I was speaking of a $100,000,000 lawsuit and that the "lady" and her son was doing what I said they would do years ago....I have been a vanguard for years for victims advocacy in this church, but that is as much as I have done and will continue to do. I never said anything about a "lady and her son" and or wrote about a one hundred million dollar lawsuit, or mentioned a prophecy that I spoke because god has given me NONE.... 
Dr. Carter, you need to be more responsible with information. I can attest that your's regarding my input into that issue is erroneous. 
Pt. 2:
One more thing. Although I would agree that our church needs a renewed spiritual awakening in many areas, similar to other organizations etc, I am in total disagreement with your resolve in character destruction. On my blog I have referenced COGIC over 78 times, Bishop Charles Blake over 34 times, Homosexuality over 68 times and clergy sexual misconduct and abuse over 90 times. I have placed some tough questions and made some pointed statements directly to our leaders, but I draw the line at character abasement. That is ungodly and I do not believe that destroying a person's character is a way to build anything. We can be hard hitting, truthful and even earth shattering without destroying the person. I led the charge against Bishop Charles Brown who allegedly molested his nieces and others. I have interviews that in my opinion are award winning on the issue. However, I did not destroy the man's character as it speaks for itself. Tell what you think he is doing wrong as far as administration is concerned. That is fair. Tell us the shortcomings and missteps. That too is fair. However, I am against denigrating his person and as I have heard your proof, it is only tabloid worthy. I have heard nothing compelling. 
I do not wish to be an antagonist, but PLEASE do not use my name unless your retelling is accurate and in context.

Takes you to what I did on the Charles Brown issue, even calling for an investigation after the court threw the issue out because of the statue of limitations. One can speak truth without denigrating a person or becoming the ungodly ugly that we speak against. I hope that can be seen in my work. Dr. Carter, you have a good cause, and that cause is reform of our church. However you methods and methodology is flawed and should cease. I was in STL a couple of years ago with a camera as well. I was not escorted off, but I did not call our leaders gay either, especially at the event. If you know this man is gay, then work on leadership reform, not speculative and sensational approaches to spiritual decorum. The Seven Son's of Sceva saw the problem, recognized it and threw themselves into it. They were powerless and came out bleeding, naked, and embarrassed. DO NOT be one of them. Your skills and talents can be used, but not like this.

The Restoration Of Marriage & Right Relationships Pt. 1 ~ Family First


Gen. 1:28~ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In my new book "Ministering Effectively" (soon at a book store or available online near you) I was led of the Lord to dedicate an entire chapter to the believer's relationship to family and family values. I believe that faithful observance of duties pertaining to the family is the foundation of a powerful and successful life and effective service to the Lord. Many individuals speak about family, but many less make family and duties to family a priority, know how to serve family, or define the needs of family.


Within the context of church and church service and just plain old living, there is always a reason to leave family or to relegate family to a second class status in the pecking order of daily activities. Secular work takes individuals away from their families in the name of producing an income to survive. Certainly we are commanded by God to work to sustain our household, and this is a valid and unavoidable result in many cases, however even in that, I believe that we must approach service to our families and community in a balanced manner. Not only naturally or monetarily, but also physically and emotionally. In other words, life can't be all work and or ministry and no or very little family physical and emotional connection. The proportion of the ingredients placed within the family setting and environment determine the outcome regardless of the material or monetary ability.

To expand upon this, on Facebook I placed my 5 top suggestions and encouragements on what it takes to make and keep a strong family for those engaged in public ministry. Although I am certainly no expert by any definition of the word on family relationships, there are some things that I have learned over the last 31 years of marriage and experienced as I have sought to strengthen families entrusted to my pastoral guidance that I believe may benefit those in similar situations. 

I hope that this mini-series helps in whatever family setting and situation that you are in and hopefully the contents of these posts can be the basis or foundation for ongoing conversation and discovery of the boundaries of your marriage. Finally, I hope that you will be built up in your faith as you discover the strength found within the bond and unity of a strong, godly and Christ centered marriage and family unit

Here we go:  

1- REMEMBER THAT FAMILY IS MINISTRY. ALWAYS KEEP FAMILY FIRST.
Needless to say, marriage and the family is under attack. With the expansion of the definition of marriage to include homosexual relationships, it is certain that the institution of marriage itself will continue to face redefinition from the secular or worldly point of view. Although marriage is not the only institution by which family is defined in modern times, marriage is yet at the pinnacle of the definition of family, and issues and values that flow from the family effect all of society.   

As Christians we should be aware that marriage and family are the first institutions of God. As such, it is revealing that no matter if one is a pastor, or a doorkeeper within the context of the church, family IS ministry. That's right, nobody in the church, and no situation that you encounter rises above the needs of family because family IS ministry. It is not, serve family then do ministry; it IS serve family and all other things is an extension of that. hypothetically speaking, neither "Sister LuLu" nor "Brother Joe" comes before Wife or Husband, and neither "Sister LuLu's" or "Brother Joe's" children, no matter how fatherless they may be (if that is the case), come before your own children.

Isn't It Ungodly To Place My Family FIRST? 

Too often, people in the church attempt to make care for their children a litmus test for the level of love of the leader or other individuals in the church. This is manipulation and I will explain why. First, individuals within the context of the church have no right to ask either your spouse or your children to suffer in effort for you to prove your "love" for them or other members. This sort of demand is indecent, out of order and is contrary to the biblical command for one to "provide" (Gk: pronoeo ~ to apply forethought in looking out for a person's best interest) for their household.(1 Tim. 5:8)  No matter how large or small the church, the lion-share of your time, effort and attention should be on, for, and given to your family. 

One popular minister boasted that his itinerary took him from multiple churches throughout the week and multiple states throughout the course of a month. At the height of his ministry, he was so enamored with "proving his love" for the people that he would minister in 3 states every Sunday and multiple services transported by a private jet. This particular minister went on to lose his family and his ministry due to infidelity and unfaithfulness within his marriage to the point of fathering a child by a youth associated with the church. 

Was My Marital Failure God's Fault?

What can we say? Some blame God for making the call and solidifying it with apparent success of material wealth. In his book "The Remnant, Restoring The Call To Personal Integrity" [Charisma House 2008] author, Larry Stockstill, poses that nearly 20% of the nations over 388,000 churches have leaders who are living a "double life" (Preface pg. 13). That comes out to over 75,000 spiritual leaders who are in trouble as we speak. I would venture to say that most of them consider that God is somehow at fault because their circumstances are at times overwhelming and they can't disappoint those under their leadership or ministry by failing to be there for them. At some point many of these same individuals believe that it is allowable for them to stop and "pick the roses" and serve themselves even in light of the fact that God has commanded them to and protect tend to the garden.    

God is not to blame when there is a character flaw of deficiency. Many times issues arise when we fail or refuse to honor, cherish, and value what God honors. The fact is that if a person truly wants a successful marriage and healthy and blessed family, some trips cannot be taken. Some visits to certain member's, friends or associates homes cannot be made and some events MUST be missed if family is to be served and honored as God has required. 

I don't know how many married people I have counseled over the years that feel that their spouse is the reason for the "hindrance" of their ministry, work, or service. I have spoken to some pastors who felt like their wife was the cause or reason that their ministry could not expand of grow. Some feel that if their children were only "better" or "better acting" that their personal plight would be much better and that they would have more success in ministry. These are highly selfish and in many cases blatantly inaccurate attitudes and sympathies. In fact, if a spouse is deficient, it is up to the other spouse to help relieve the deficiency. Kids are to be trained and reared by their parents, so if they are ungodly, let's examine how much time that the parents have placed in to their success. 

A Right Perspective:  

God records the following about the help given that was meet for Adam:

Gen. 2:18 ~ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
After creating his wife Adam was not only happy about her and her design, but he was ready to leave all and establish a life with her:
Gen 2: 23-25 ~ 23-And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24- Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25-And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Further, God said this about our children:
Ps. 127:3 ~ Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.
The help that was "meet" for Adam according to God was not a church, a group of people, a stage or even a paycheck. The help that was "meet" or "fit" for Adam was his wife. Similarly, Psalms 127, though only 5 verses, is full of praise towards the family, children in particularly, and the blessings they bring to one's future, one's home and one's community.

Conclusion:

Looking back to the beginning and to God's intent provides us a glimpse into God's heart and character. Examining what he intended for the family is a priority if we want to get the greatest and best success from our marriages and families in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

In the book of Joshua, God charged the people:
Joshua 1:8 ~ This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
"Good success" is not the acquisition of land, houses, property or simply material possessions. Good success is being able to maintain integrity, character and godly priorities along the way. The "good success" of God was to be able to freely worship and serve God by honoring and obeying his commands so that our joy would be full.  

Make first things first in life and ministry and God will honor that. Anything to the contrary is not honorable and will not be honored nor favored by God!

SirWalter Jones Right Message For The Right Time

Elder Walter Jones, a friend from the Chicago, IL. area, recently spoke out again on the situation that developed between Dr. Earl Carter and what now appears to be not only Presiding Bishop Blake of the Church Of God In Christ, but the church itself. I believe this video says all that I could say on the subject and then some and as such should be studied. 

For the record, I disagree totally with What Dr. Carter is currently doing and saying and would hope that he would stop and simply walk away from the argument. Although, I have certainly pointed out ways in which our church can be better and even taken some of the moves of Bishop Blake to task, I draw the line at character abasement and personal innuendo and, as I have told him personally, lend my voice to support our Presiding Bishop and our church.

PROTECT Our Children. KUDOS Supt. Cortines

“This is a rare threat. We get threats all the time,”...“I think the circumstances in neighboring San Bernardino, I think what has happened in the nation, I think what happened internationally — I, as superintendent, am not going to take the chance with the life of a student.”

Tuesday Dec. 15th, 2015, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) which serves over 655,000 children, at over 900 campuses and 187 public charter schools in Los Angeles was closed due to multiple terror threats.

Emails, from a currently unknown source, sent to Board members and other high ranking officials within the school district, indicated that bombs, guns, rifles, and even nerve gas agents would be used to rain terror on students at undisclosed locations all over the city. Upon evaluation of the threats, school officials quickly invoked the help of local police and subsequently all branches of law enforcement including several federal law enforcement agencies to bring serious action to addressing the threats and protecting children. LAUSD School Supt. Ramon Cortines made what I consider to be a brave, and bold decision to make sure that both students and employees would be protected opting to close all school campuses and conduct detailed searches of school property to make sure that all was clear. 

Criticism

Of course, the Supt.'s actions have drawn much criticism from individuals contending that the rush to close schools was too hasty and that the seriousness of the letter could have been better evaluated in light of the fact that the emails are suspected to be some sort of hoax aimed at disrupting the normal flow of life. 

I simply say to the critics, what IF the email was not a hoax and what if ONE child, teacher, or district employee was killed as a result of not acting or taking precautions against the threat? It would seem that some people would rather "look" normal and unaffected by terrorism and terrorists and live in a world of fantasy and make-believe. The only thing is, that most, if not all of the critics, don't have a single child in the school district and only play "arm chair quarterback" from a distance. 

Can this Supt. be criticized for looking at the situation, assessing the climate of current events, and reconciling that the children and adults that care for our kids would be better off missing a day of education until the treat can be fully assessed? 

I say KUDOS to Supt. Cortines! Job WELL DONE in protecting the kids and adults of the LAUSD!

What Do I Know? 

Among things that I have done for a living is identify myself as one of those certified and licensed School Resource Officers (SRO) that are essential to the daily function of most urban and inner city schools and school districts. 

In that capacity of serving our community and children, I was able to observe what we are dealing with up close when it comes to threats, behavioral issues and the safety of all individuals who enter our schools daily. On one occasion I witnessed children attempting to purchase certain chemicals from the science lab of a particular school, with a stated intent of making a bomb...Yes, you read it right. Students, in school, looking to secure chemicals to make a bomb, and openly telling the teachers what they want the chemical for. 

In that particular case, although the students were handled and addressed by city and possibly even state law enforcement officials with higher authority and jurisdiction, there was no effort to close the school, abbreviate the day, or do anything out of the normal. 

In that situation, I wondered, what if there is more to this than meets the eye? What if the extent of their inquiry is more advanced than initially believed? Wouldn't we all be at risk?

In this scenario, and many others, the appearance of "normalcy" was the priority. However, what would have happened if someone was damaged in some way while at school as a result of these young people's apparently devious desires? 

Are we, as a society, willing to trade what appears to be "normal" for our very own safety and security? If so, why and how can we call that a humane outlook or approach to life? I mean, if you place yourself in harms way to help others, that is one thing, that is even noble in any case of which I am aware, but to place me in harms way without notification of your intent to do so and against my knowledge of the seriousness of the situation is borderline sociopathic.  

Final Word


The director of the FBI currently says that the United States is under the greatest terror threat since 9/11. In the most recent CNN Republican Presidential debate Senator Rand Paul said that he believes that we defeat terrorism and terrorists by "showing them that we do not fear them". For him the display of no fear seemed to mean that we should not live or conduct ourselves differently even in light of current threats. 


Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump suggests that we stop everything involving immigration of individuals who identify themselves as Muslim, from hostile countries, until such time as we can guarantee the safety and security of Americans within our boarders and weed out all those that intend to do us harm. 

While there is no easy political solution, one thing is sure...no one has a right to jeopardize the life of another for political reasons or political correctness. We are not living in a normal time and we cannot do things as we normally have done in time past expecting either different results or an increase in our safety and security. 

The Supt. made a decision that could have saved countless families and fellow Americans severe grief and heartache. If there is an error to make, let it be made on the side of security, safety and precaution for all.

"Pattern Of Practice" Federal Investigation Of Chicago Police Dept. Announced

"Building trust between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve is one of my highest priorities as Attorney General,"US Attorney General Loretta Lynch

Early Monday Dec. 7th, 2015 the head of the United States Dept. Of Justice, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, announced a "Pattern of Practice" Federal investigation into the Chicago Police Department on the heels of the ongoing federal investigation into the Laquan McDonald murder in which a Chicago Police Officer, Jason Van Dyke, the only one of eight officers on the scene gunned down the knife brandishing, 17 year old youth, shooting him 16 times.

In this case, the problem stems from not only a murder of a citizen by what appears to be use of excessive force by an officer, but also what could be deemed as obstruction of justice by officers at the scene who delivered reports (released Friday 12/4 evening) that are apparently in conflict with video and other evidence uncovered regarding the incident which took place on October 20th, 2014.

Following the table of events, it seems that all persons charged with protecting citizens and holding both the officers and the system accountable, including former Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Cook County States Attorney Anita Alvarez, (who said that it often takes over a year for investigations such as this to complete) have failed in their duties to provide any substantive action and support to the citizens they are charged to serve.

It seems that none of this would have come to light if it had not been for a court order to make the video of the incident public and Chicago protetestors taking peaceful and effective demonstration to the next level by demonstrating and marching prior to, during and after Black Friday 2015. Some have speculated that the demonstrations themselves had an over $2 billion negative impact on Chicago brick and mortar retail business operations in the heart of the City's Michigan Ave. businesses over the post Thanksgiving holiday.

Notably, prior to a suit being filed, the City Of Chicago settled with the family of Laquan McDonald for $5 Million which gives fuel to the argument that all that anyone wanted was for this to go away without additional discovery.

How does the CPD treat citizens of various ethnic and racial makeup? Is their a systemic problem in the way that the Department handles its minority citizens? Will Mayor Rahm Emanuel finally step down? One thing is for sure, the federal investigation into department operations will tell the story that many may not have ever wanted to be told.

Thanks to my son, H Jeauvon Burnett III for bringing this subject to my attention...

It seems that there are some withing the hip-hop community that are not deceived over the current marketing and placement of the homosexual agenda and they are sick of it. One such artist is rapper Waka Flocka Flame (Jaquin James Malphurs age 29) currently hailing from Atlanta, GA.

It seems that Waka Flocka is not even close to being deceived about, 1-the nature or God, meaning that he does not buy into the current worldly understanding that God is deceptive in his creation, especially as it pertains to the sexuality of men and mankind and 2- the marketing and recasting of the homosexual agenda, to make things appear that homosexuality is or should be either normal is tantamount to evil.

The Dunamis Word MUST join this Hip-Hop adherent in saying KUDOS and THANK YOU for understanding and articulating what many in the church and many in church leadership don't understand and if they do, refuse to articulate for fear of unpopularity and social upheaval.  

Although the interview goes into other issues such as politics, finance and Waka's relationship both in marriage and with his business partners, this young man's position on the homosexual agenda, transgenderism and the message that is currently being sent to young people within society is very clear. He ain't down with the DECEPTION!

At the end of the day, I am curious to see how the world responds to this young man and I pray that he maintains the truth that has been revealed to him on this issue and continues to seek greater truth within Christ Jesus to avoid the "seven sons of Sceva syndrome" (Acts 19) which has silenced a many individuals who seek to help the community but that do not have the power necessary to do so...This is certainly one minister that will be praying.

Freedom Of Religion...Olympus Has Fallen

As I note, these are the closing words by President Asher in the 2013 movie, "Olympus Has Fallen". Even though the movie dealt with a fictitious foreign enemy and a takeover of the countries highest office of leadership, reality sometimes mimics fantasy. I don't think that we are faced with any a greater danger than that emanating from the nations highest systems of government which not only includes the ideological takeover of the executive branch of government but also a takeover of the nations judicial branch as both impose a new and foreign type of morality on the American people.

Please allow me to be clear. In this case, our "foe" is not the homosexual or even the common citizen seeking to survive and pursue peace and happiness in this world. The "foe" are the ideologues and historic revisionists that not only seek to co-exist in a nation where freedom, including freedom of religious practice and worship has been a founding principle, but the aim is to subdue the culture upholding and praising perversion while at the same time criticizing and even ridiculing values that have built nations, and brought hope to people all over the world for generations, and in specifically has been the guiding light of America.  

Continued Erosion Of Freedom & Rights Of Conscience By The Courts
It is no secret that the agenda of gay and homosexual normalization, and the access to marriage in particularly has been championed by the courts and not the voice of the people or legislatures of the majority of the States of the United states of America.

One of the most disturbing recent occurrences is the finding of "contempt of court" by a Federal Judge in the case of Kim Davis, the former (I suppose) Rowan County, KY, County Clerk, which was duly elected by the public (the people) to carry out her job. Not only was Mrs. Davis found to be in contempt of court for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, but she was was subsequently jailed as well for standing for her religious freedoms and rights of conscience. Mt. 24:9 ~ Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

The backdrop for the court's actions of course is the sweeping ratification by the United States Supreme Court that reverses any ban on gay marriage in any State. In other words in the court's view, gay marriage is sanctioned in all corners of the United States and should not be prohibited in any venue by any citizen or office of the United States.

Some have taken the Supreme Court's decision and President Obama's support and direction of the nation and the world towards the acceptance and normalization of gay marriage as "gospel" and the way that a truly free society should operate and function in spite of religion and religious views. For President Obama and those that believe in his version of pluralism and secularism, religious beliefs and dogmas are flexible, subject to wholesale change and revision and always tempered by the belief that man best directs his own destiny. ie: One creates one's own God and serves him as it is right in one's own eyes...(2 Kings 17:33, 41)

Are Our Religious Views & Values Subject To The State? 

It can hardly be argued that the bible teaches cognitive dissonance against the State, rule or authority. We are consistently told that we should honor magistrates (Titus 3:1) and governments and even pray for them. (Rom. 13:1) However, we see that when it comes to standing for and doing what is right in God's eyes, the biblical characters did not obey the orders of the magistrates or the powers that were in control. They quickly and readily hastened to the call of the Lord, even if it meant that their lives were made uncomfortable:

Acts 5:27-32 ~ 27-And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, 28-Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. 29-Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. 30-The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31-Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32-And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

In the case of gay marriage and gay marital acceptance, what we have is a perversion being hailed as a desirable and acceptable moral value. It is the conscience of all of them that know the truth to NOT promote a lifestyle that is both immoral, dangerous and detrimental to society. At the same time, most believers also recognize the human elements involved. Gay people are people too, deserving of courtesy and respect. However, the problem is not courtesy, nor is it respect. The problem is subjection to a lifestyle and proclivity that is immoral, unbiblical and even in secular society, damaging both to the individual and society in general.

Not A Funny Matter

This event has sparked may sharp criticisms on both sides of the issue. Some have said that Kim Davis is a "public" servant, therefore has a greater obligation to serve the public no matter her personal beliefs...some have said that the judge went way over the top (a sentiment to which I certainly concur) and other have said that this is one proof of why the bible and even religion itself has no place in a free society...Others have simply laughed Mrs. Davis and her beliefs to scorn, telling her and us that we are out of date and out of touch and have no clue as to what "reality" says in this case or any other case where religious values are in conflict.

While the latter is just stupid...I mean the equivalent of a child climbing on its parents lap and slapping him/her in the face for not buying the right baby formula or the right diapers...The only reason that the baby has anything at all or knows anything at all is because of the parents that have cared for him/her in those things and more. The only reason we enjoy ANY freedoms at all in America is because of religion and Christianity in particular, not in spite of it... The jokes and abundant ignorance of the pundits against the ample evidence of history is utterly fantastic, and only displays the needs of the historic revisionist to actually attempt to change history in order to make their case asserting that America would somehow be better off without God and or religion....

Although, I would agree that America is certainly not a "Christian nation" in the sense that every mandate and dictate that it embraces is Christ centered, it doesn't take but a cursory examination of the structure of our society to observe that the principles and values that this society embraces, and that most every free nation embraces are principles also deeply rooted in in biblical moral value constructs emanating primarily from concepts and teachings of the Ten Commandments and biblical Christianity.

The revisionists display their long staff of ignorance by continuing to assert that the founders of this country sought to establish freedoms in absence of religion. Nearly ALL the evidence points contrary to their assertions. Here is a small smapling of some of the evidence in support of my position:

The Declaration of Independence (1776) 

This document invokes an understanding of God in the very establishment of human freedoms and what are called "unalienable" rights, which are rights not conferred upon man by other men, but rights conferred upon every human being by a transcendent being, aka: God himself:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Not only did the signers and creators of the constitution avow the "creation" of men meaning that man and mankind was purposeful and not some act of chance or random selection or inclusion of life, but that men were given certain qualities, traits and "rights" that were not on the table to be traded away or traded for. There "rights" came from a source other than men and mankind and were transcendent in value and nature. The founders held these things as "self evident" meaning that there was no great inquiry necessary to observe, see and experience these things.

The Articles Of Confederation 1777:
Article III. ~ The said states hereby severally enter into a firm league of friendship with each other, for their common defence, the security of their Liberties, and their mutual and general welfare, binding themselves to assist each other, against all force offered to, or attacks made upon them, or any of them, on account of religion, sovereignty, trade, or any other pretence whatever.
Under Article 3 of the Articles Of Confederation was placed in tact to DEFEND those who were attacked due to or because of their religion. Religion was acknowledged as being a durable and enduring part of society, not some sort of weird exception to the norm or the way things were.

The Bill Of Rights (Added to the US Constitution 1791)
 Amendment I  ~ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
This is probably the most rehearsed Amendment to the US Constitution in all of American history, because upon it rests and identifies the type of freedoms that we have as Americans and enjoin. There is no "penalty" for having a position of free speech or opinion. There is no "restriction" or line which is drawn to say that "freedoms stop here". Freedoms simply exist and Congress cannot prohibit these freedoms and continue to stay faithful to the founding document. Notwithstanding that the courts seems to have found a way around this, by becoming something that it was never authorized to do...being a dispenser and a creator of laws through and by activism.

It is this branch, the Judiciary, that was never intended to establish or create law that has become the new dispenser of rights and freedoms and the restrictor of freedoms based upon the "rouse" of "interpreting" the law supposedly in effort of making the law fair for all men and women. With the Executive Branch of the government leading the way, the Judiciary has dome more damage for the moral and social values of the country than any other branch of government in modern times.

Here are some other opinions about rights and freedoms, especially as they pertain to religion and Christianity in particular that we should be aware of.

"The Christian religion is, above all the religions that ever prevailed or existed in ancient or modern times, the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity. [Works, Vol. III, p. 421, diary entry for July 26, 1796.]

"Conscience is the most sacred of all property; other property depending in part on positive law, the exercise of that being a natural and unalienable right. To guard a man’s house as his castle, to pay public and enforce private debts with the most exact faith, can give no title to invade a man’s conscience, which is more sacred than his castle, or to withhold from it that debt of protection for which the public faith is pledged by the very nature and original conditions of the social pact. – “Property” in The National Gazette (29 March 1792)

False Interpretations Of The Bible

One of the most ridiculous things that has arisen out of the entire controversy over gay marriage is the myriad of various false interpretation of the bible and biblical moral values. Prior to him being President, Barack Obama said:
"Moreover, given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers. And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson's, or Al Sharpton's? Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let's read our bibles. Folks haven't been reading their bibles." ~ Senator Barack Obama, "A Call To Renewal" Washington DC 6/8/2006

Many have followed the same confusion linking food laws such as restrictions on shellfish and other "unclean" animals to laws and prohibitions to sexual immorality. Then others link prohibitions of mixed fabric garments to laws on sexual morality as if to say that because they can't understand why there were fabric restrictions that certainly there are no sexual restrictions.

Now, does that even make sense? Since there are no sexual restrictions, because certain fabrics couldn't be mixed, and that makes no sense now, then certainly anything a person or persons want to do sexually is permissible???

Then, because there are differences in how to carry out a Christian life and walk we should simply allow all things or whatever we feel to take place???

What the President and others that share his confusion and erroneous sense of interpretation do is assume that Christians are demanding a theocratic government.  Muslims may demand such by implementing Sharia and seeking to make Sharia a part of American Law, under which they are judged separately from others, Christians offer and make no such conclusions or impositions on the government. Christians seek fairness, morality, justice and equability in the law, not a theocracy because we know that this world does not belong to us and that Jesus did not come to establish an earthly kingdom, but a kingdom that endures forever.

These arguments are simply red herrings diverting away from the moral truth that god demands sexual purity among people and that purity is for the benefit and freedom of people, not for their demise and destruction. He know how we were created, even as the founding fathers acknowledge, and he knows best how we perform. God did not create a deceptive creation and a false or fake man or women. he created a man and a woman that was real with orderly affections and passions one for the other.

Olympus Has Fallen, Can It Get UP?

President Obama said that his Presidency would be the one that all gay people would be especially proud and fond of when looking back on history. The President certainly did not lie about that one. What he did not say is that his Presidency would probably be the most sad one for religious and personal freedoms for all Americans including Christians in this country for sure. he failed to say that his assault on marriage would have lasting implications and that his redefining morality to include sexual perversion as normal would only open the gate to anything that man and mankind could think of in the future.

Already the pedophiles are following the same rout of the President and the gay advocacy movement claiming that adult/child sexual relations should be considered normal and could even be "healthy" and "wholesome" for the children who otherwise learn everything else from adults...The Polygamists, bigamists and polyamourous only seek support for their actions and activities which a just society once condemned. Now, how and under what doctrine can any of them be condemned if secular society is right about what it is imposing?

Thus the problem is revealed...the door is open to all perversion of any kind and that is primarily thanks to an activist court and a President set on changing the culture in one of the most unbiblical manners possible...at the root and foundation of the family.

At a time when families should be flourishing, we are yet laying polluted in our own blood, but thank god there is a PHYSICIAN in the house and HIS name is Jesus. only HE can heal us of this disease called flesh, and self exaltation. Without HIM we can do nothing!

COGIC Counsel Issues Guidance On Same Sex Marriage

{Neither Supt. Harvey Burnett nor The Dunamis Word are attorneys, do not offer legal advice nor are engaged in the practice of law. The information contained within this article and this blog in general is not and should not be construed as legal advice. The reader should seek such professionally trained and licensed individuals for such advice and information.}   

The Office Of The General Counsel (OGC) of the Church Of God In Christ issued guidance to all pastors and churches in light of the Supreme Court's recent ratification of gay marriage within the United States.
In a 5 page memorandum General Counsel, Elder Uleses C. Henderson Jr., outlines the issues that the Supreme Court's decision has placed upon member congregations of the Church Of God In Christ, and offers solutions which seem to be in line with an early style and operation of churches and church congregations within COGIC.

Membership Seems To Be The Key

Interestingly enough, the OGC guidance centers around church membership and steers both individuals and churches away from serving the general public or acting as commercially available entities. Here are a few things stated in the memorandum:

To the congregation:

"Local congregations should consider adopting a policy that not only limits weddings, but also funerals and baby dedications to members of the congregation in good standing with the faith and teachings of the Church Of God In Christ. 
“Members in good standing” should be carefully defined as members who offer evidence by their confession and conduct that they are living in accord with the faith, teachings and doctrine of the Church Of God In Christ."

To the minister:
"Consider limiting your official role in weddings to members of your local congregations in good standing with the faith and teachings of the Church Of God In Christ. This way, pastors should have some familiarity with the beliefs and/or lifestyle of the couples they are marrying. We understand that this may appear as a rather brash suggestion, however, until more clarity is provided on the issue, either by your local, state and/or federal legislators, caution should be taken in this area."
Use of the church facility:
"Church leaders should carefully consider the potential downside of entering the commercial marketplace in order to raise church funds. Thus, churches should avoid advertising their facilities for public use. Once a church begins to “look like” it is in the business of facilitating public weddings, it may become subject to non-discrimination commerce laws."
Prior to the commercialization of modern churches, these practices are exactly the practices of the church of old. Churches generally always served the needs of its members and the public generally did not seek out the church for certain celebrations and observances, especially if those observances were contrary to the church doctrines and policies.

Is The World Leading The Church?

COGIC.org set forth some interesting strategies to safeguard the modern church and congregation from potential fallout of the homosexual lobby.

Fact is that the new law and redefinition of marriage, has been and is being used by gay advocacy groups to strip away the freedoms of non-homosexuals and subvert the church and many of its adherents and leaders are drawing lines in the sand. The Obama White House, which courted COGIC in both election campaigns, even wooing the COGIC Holy Convocation with video taped messages of "congratulations" has proven to be no friend of the church and the religious community in general. Under the Obama Presidency the proliferation of homosexuality and the gay lifestyle has hit historical highs of endorsement, running through the courts at a fever pitch, in spite of the President's supposed "honor" of the church, his "faith" and "respect" for the bible.

Because of these things, in a strange twist, the church, all churches, now feel a need to renew, refine and otherwise overhaul church bylaws and practices. In other words, the church is finding a way to distance itself from the fallout of homosexuality while simultaneously conforming to the law maintaining itself as a church.

It would seem that the church should have and could have easily set the line of demarcation long ago, but refused to define who was a part of the church and how that was to be lived out, because it was enamored with the benefits of its commercial appeal to the world and the attention that it was receiving.

It seems that the world is now helping the church define what it means to be a "member" and set forth clearly what it means to be saved within the Grand Ole Church.  

Critical Issues & A Very Big Problem Looms

There is certainly a glaring problem with all of this. As stated, the problem centers around the definition of membership and what the church and many congregations have allowed up until this point and how something, EVERYTHING, must change.

Please follow this scenario:

Hypothetically: there are people claiming to be members of the church who are homosexual and because of that, do not represent the values and lifestyle of the church. Those individuals have participated and been a part of church functions, and even assisted in proliferating the message of the church. Many individuals in the church know that these individuals are gay, and in most cases even the pastor has that knowledge as well.

Now, that same person wants to be married under the law...They "believe" that they are members of the church and are members "in good standing". They may be gay, but neither the pastor, nor the congregations has ever stopped them from performing. In fact in many cases they have been asked to represent either the church, choir or pastor.

Now, can the pastor deny him/her the opportunity to a same sex marriage? Moreover, can the church deny the use of the facility? 

It would seem that the definition of membership would be the determining factor? If membership is defined as one who participates, gives money and otherwise follows the vision of the church, the church and leader is hard pressed to deny such a one rights to marriage, and consequently the church membership is hard pressed to deny access and use of the facility.

However, if the definition of membership includes FIRST salvation, as it did in the old days, and specific teaching to the individual that they are not saved or in union with Christ or the church having adopted a homosexual lifestyle, then if the church is subject to an annual scrub of a bona-fide, printed and updated membership roll, then the person, no matter how they have participated in the church and church functions, would seem to be lawfully excluded, again, if it has been outlined that their lifestyle prohibits them from being a "member" of the church.

In other words..."YOU CAN NOT JOIN IN, YOU HAVE TO BE BORN IN."

Then,, the use of the church is another factor. Does the church simply lend itself out to individuals for dollars or the return of cash? If so, the building may be brought under subjection even if the pastor is not.

Interestingly, reverting back to COGIC founding principles of salvation, holiness, righteousness and truth, seems to clear up what a member is and what a person has rights to, and simultaneously PROTECTS the church from undue pressure and a potentially acrimonious result in dealing with both the world and church attendees. If only SAVED members can use and have access to the church, then that at least addresses the sincerely held belief section and the usage doctrines that the OGC points out or alludes to.

Conclusion:
In 140AD the heretic and gnostic, Marcion of Sinope, produced his canon or version of what he claimed were the inspired works. Marcion's bible excluded the Old Testament, because he said that the God of the OT was NOT God. He called the OT God a "demiurge".  Marcion mutilated much of the New Testament as well, stripping the words and writings of Paul from their context, throwing out certain books and in many cases presenting only certain parts of the epistles that he felt comfortable with.

The church and church leaders had to respond. They took the works that were already circulating among Christians such as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and the Epistles of Paul, & Peter and slowly began the process of ordering them together to form what we now know of as the Bible.

Interestingly enough, the Bible became the Bible, not because the church set out to create one, but because the world, through and by Marcion, a heretic who served a different Jesus than Paul, Peter, John, or the Gospels taught, set forth the a vision and wanted acceptance.

It would seem that the homosexual lobby, seeking and demanding acceptance, has inadvertently cause the church to revert itself back to biblical principles and definitions that would clearly, and without any obscurity, make it plain as to the relationship of those who practice homosexuality and the church.

At the same time, the pastor's hand is forced. No longer will the pastor or congregation feel safe or secure by being entertained by the "known" homosexual in the congregation without making it clear to them that their lifestyle is contrary to God's word and that they are therefore not saved, no matter how they may entertain or be entertained. To some this is cruel and unloving, but it seems that unless you are a pastor who doesn't mind performing homosexual weddings, or a church who doesn't mind hosting them, this is a distinction that must be made.

Why? Because if the homosexual is accepted by the church, not told that they are not members because of their lifestyle, they will at some point, demand marriage, which is a right of membership,  and further demand that the church both accept and facilitate their demand.

Like Marcion, the homosexual lobby has forced the church's hand. Pastor's can no longer live in silence on the issue, nor can they relegate their music departments and other functions of the church to individuals who have questionable lifestyles.

Plausible Deniability or Don't Ask Don't Tell?

No time to play DUMB now. I am of the persuasion that not asking will not be an excuse and looking the other way, won't hold up in court.

This is not about an attendee or someone coming to the church to participate in its functions. This is talking about those who will lead, and are committed to service in the church to the point where they interpret their service as a form of inclusive membership.

I wonder will the church really understand what has happened and what is really being said in this memorandum. In all I have tried to lay out a portion of it for your review and edification. This does not seem to be exclusive to COGIC although I really wonder who will take heed to establishing certain practices within the local church that will benefit the church and the community. Although this is about same-sex unions, it is far more reaching than just that. I hope we can understand that at the end of the day.

America's Hypocrisy Exposed

Let me understand this...the NAACP, believes in the rights of gays to marry even claiming that they too are a minority with civil rights similar to the civil rights of Black people, but DOESN'T affirm the right of a White woman to live as a Black woman? 

They have gone past CRAZY!!!!

Ever since Rachel Dolezal, former head of the NAACP, was put to shame for "identifying" as a Black woman, the news media, and many Black and White pundits, have followed suit to display their own arrogance and double standards in the area of individual "personal identity". 

Most of the critics have reduced Dolezal's actions down to a desire for monetary gain or some other weird and awkward advantage that she could have received by calling herself Black. Many of these same pundits, are even hypocritical about that as well. the fact is that I know of no "perk" in America given because one is Black. If there are any, please spell them out for me specifically so that I can take advantage of them. I do know however of the many disadvantages of being Black in America. One only need look at nearly any local news cast to see and find that out. So the argument that Dolezal had some type of grand scheme to position herself to make more money and be more famous by Blackness is absurd and certainly can't be proven by any evidence or material fact. 

Reconditioning Of The Mind

I would certainly not have appeared on America's #1 HYPOCRITICAL morning news segment with America's #1 HYPOCRITE, Matt Lauer. Lauer is not worth it and seems to only bash women that he doesn't like. We all remember "Ann Curry" don't we? 

Lauer is abrasive and comes across very phony in his news segments. In the interview posted below, Lauer does no differently with Mrs. Doezal. He is very abrasive flying under the cover of "public commentary" asking her:
"When did you start, deceiving people, and telling them that you were Black, when you knew their questions were pointed in a different direction? When someone said to you, are you Black or White, you didn't say "I identify as Black" you'd say, "I'm Black." When did you start deceiving people?"

Let's look back just a few days to an April 27th "Today Show" interview with Kim Kardashian. Remember, Kim spoke about the 'courage" of her "Step-father" Bruce Jenner, as he transitioned from a man to a woman...Remember Kim stated that Bruce was:

"Bruce is the most HONEST, and he has the biggest heart, and I am really happy for him that he is living his life the way he wants to live it, and that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness. That's what life is about, I don't know what life would be like if you just weren't yourself."...
In response to Kim's assessment that Jenner was "honest", (sugar, spice and everything nice) Matt Lauer had no criticism, and only wanted to know was how long was the familiy's "adjustment time" to the idea of his gender transition. 

In other words, even though Jenner, lived as a man, and was one that Lauer "admired" for years, there were no starling words of condemnation calling either Jenner or Kardashian "deceivers" or "deceitful"...For anyone wanting to see that interview please click HERE

Not All Talk Show Hosts Are The Same:

Whoopie Goldberg on "The view" recently stated to the chagrin of the audience:
“I have to believe she feels the way she feels just like Caitlyn Jenner feels like she’s a woman,”...“I don’t feel she’s doing anything anyone else hasn’t done. If someone feels that they’re this, they have every right to pursue it."
As I stated, the audience was critical of her statements and she had to defend her position regarding the issue. The good news is that she left her hypocrisy at the door regarding the issue. The bad news is that she is still yet blind regarding moral choices, values and decisions and their impact on society. The latter, I can deal with at a later time, but the point is that she is correct.

Conclusion & Video

Some claim that Mrs. Dolezal is "pretending to be Black", while at the same time affirming gay transition as a new frontier and heroic decision. VIDEO 

If BRUCE Jenner is given some type of award or commendation for living his whole life as a man and then pursuing his thoughts of being a woman by changing his body, then one MUST commend Dolezal for having the nerve enough to pursue her identity as well.

Richard Stellar on his blog, "The Wrap" poses the same question..."If Jenner can identify as a woman, why can't Dolezal identify as Black?"  In the article he points out that many Black folk feel slighted when transgenderism draws a comparison with the transracism of Dolezal. I would venture to say that most Blacks offended are not offended when gay rights advocates use the same civil rights legislation that Black people fought for, to affirm their desires to be opposite gender individuals. Too many of them see the argument as the same, including the NAACP...In other words, Black people, who do not stand against cross genderism only show their hypocrisy when confronted with the argument of a White woman who chooses to live as a Black woman.
